Making A Claim
Claiming on your animal insurance usually works as follows. The owner will usually pay the amount due to the vet, and then send in the claim form with the vet bills and receive reimbursement (for example within 2 weeks) from the animal insurance company. The reimbursement may be credited directly to your bank account or a cheque sent out to you.
There is usually a maximum annual pay out for different categories of illness, injury and other claim types.
Most animal insurance plans also only pay a percentage (70-85%) of the actual vet bill. Sometimes the pay out percentage is less for pets over a certain age.
Some animal insurance plans also require you to pay an excess in the event of a vet bill.
